Facebook Messenger Now Allows Free Voice Calling In The U.S Ⓐ

We all know Facebook’s plan to be everywhere on your mobile. With Facebook Home, Facebook decided to go all in, and right into your smartphone. The bet almost paid off, had it been accepted better by its early adopters. A massive hit however, has been the new revamped Facebook Messenger. With Chatheads, Facebook redefined how you chat with your friends, with little heads of your friends popping onto your screen(only on Android, iOS for some reasons drags you back onto your Facebook App).
Today Facebook has decided to take another step into its ever growing smartphone hog expedition. Now the Facebook can really start to replace your phone. Today Facebook rolled out its free VoIP calling feature to US users of Home and its Android Facebook Messenger app. That means even less reason to open your standard “phone” app, and more data for Facebook about who you care about the most. Now all iOS and Android users in the US can Facedial their friends.
The free calling service launched for Canadian Android users in early March, so today’s announcement greatly broadens the scope of the company’s efforts to become the one way we all communicate digitally. In order to call a friend for free using Facebook Messenger, tap the “i” button inside a conversation and then select Free Call. You do not need to update the Messenger app to use the feature. If you’re using Chat Heads to message friends, you’ll need to tap the three “more info” dots next to a person’s name to move the conversation to the Messenger app before you can make a call.
U.S has now become the 24th country to receive this new VoIP feature of Facebook and a worldwide rollout is expected soon. Facebook VoIP was available for iOS users since January and Considering the breakneck pace at which Facebook plans to update its new Home launcher for Android, it also shouldn’t be long before making calls feels as integrated as messaging with Chat Heads.
